19 May: What is truth in Buddhism?
19 May 2012
Truth refers to the way things are, to the naked perception of reality. The Buddha mentioned four noble truths (1 suffering, 2 its source, 3 the cessation of suffering, and 4 the path leading to this cessation). Sometimes, it has been claimed that the Buddhist teaching is pessimistic, but that is far from the case, since it shows us a way out of confusion.
May 27: The ten virtues.
27 May 2012
We may all want the world to be a better place. But what can we do, on an individual level, to make this possible? The third lecture will focus on the three virtues of mental conduct: to relinquish covetousness, malice and wrong views.
23 June: Meditation: recognizing and overcoming obstacles in our practice
23 June 2012
Anyone who engages seriously in meditation will know that this practice provides great benefits, such as inner peace and spaciousness, the ability to let go of tensions, etc
30th June: Finding harmony in the relationships between man and woman
30 June 2012
We all search for love and intimacy in our relationships with others. Yet sometimes, because we lack understanding of the particular differences in the mindsets and energies of man and woman, we get stuck in misunderstandings. If these are not clarified, this can lead to resentment.
Therefore, we need to become aware of the specific differences in expectation and communication between men and women. When we are able to listen to the needs of our partner, we can offer a loving responsive presence that does not seek to force our partner in a preconceived mould but is appreciative of our partner’s unique qualities and allows them full space to develop.
