In a series of five readings Lama Jigmé Namgyal addresses the Five Poisons, or five negative emotions: ignorance, grasping, anger, pride and jealousy. The last in the series covers jealousy. What causes us to become jealous? Sometimes we feel inferior when we see that other people are happier, more succesful or more reputable than we are in one way or another. Instead of being happy that they're such successful and exemplar people, we become jealous. This has a negative impact on us. It doesn't make us happier, but rather, it impedes us in our ability to care for others.
