In September starts a series of three weekends during which Lama Jigme Namgyal will be explaining what the Three Jewels and "refuge" means to Buddhists. The Three Jewels are the Buddha, the Dharma (the teachings of the Buddha) and Sangha (practitioners of the Dharma).

If we encounter problems in our lives, we often need to seek protection. For some people therapy is a source of consolation. This can indeed be very helpful, but from a Buddhist point of view this is seen as temporary.  These things can not replace the enlightening truth of the refuge in the Three Jewels, and the ultimate refuge of knowing your own mind.

During three weekends Lama Jigme wil explain the outer, inner and secret forms of the Three Jewels. This allows us to experience  "taking refuge" , both in our practice and during our daily lives.

The subject of the first weekend, "Taking Refuge in Buddha. What is the meaning of the Buddha and the teacher? What exactly is the significance of the unbroken line of teachers going back to the Buddha himself? Although the lecture deals with the Buddhist tradition, everyone who is looking for protection (with or without religious background) are welcome.
