It is because Bodhisattva’s recognize their true potential and are able to let go of everything that could hinder them on their spiritual journey, that they follow the path taught by the Buddha to the fullest. Bodhisattva’s are not disturbed by emotions and have learned to respond to difficult situations in a constructive way. They have overcome clinging to attachment and aversion because they fully understand the nature of reality as well as the illusion-like nature of both pleasure and pain. This is how Bodhisattvas are able to cherish all living beings as the source of all happiness and are able to work for the good of all.

'The Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva' is the name of a text written by the Tibetan master Thokme Zangpo (born in 1295). Written in rhyme, this text offers a practical approach to a Bodhisattva’s training, in which the development of compassion is central.

Lama Jigmé Namgyal studied this classic text from a very young age and at the University of Larung Gar in Tibet. It is his wish to share his knowledge of the 37 verses with everyone who is open to receive it and strives to live a life according to these practices. His teachings make the text so approachable that it can be applied very well in daily life. In a very practical way Lama Jigmé will teach us how to cultivate the six perfections: generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, concentration and wisdom, which form the basis for the bodhisattva way of life.
