Studying with Lama Jigmé

Lama Jigmé is a practically minded teacher. He does not pass on his teachings to students from books, but works with real life examples and experiences. Books and texts serve to support your practice and your development. That takes some getting used to for some students. After all, in the West we are so used to studying from books. But if you study with Lama Jigmé for a while, you will see that the integration of his teaching into your daily life naturally happens.

Taking action

Lama Jigmé will always motivate you to investigate everything yourself and to question his words. He emphasizes that you are responsible for your own development. He also finds it important that you take action yourself to take steps on your spiritual path. Of course he will always guide you in this.

Pure teachings

The facilitator who guides you as a student in the class is not a teacher. He / she does not discuss the content of the teachings and does not teach. To keep the transmission of the teachings pure, you can only ask substantive questions to Lama Jigmé. He challenges you to do this in class; your own questions and those of your fellow students will help you develop further.

Interaction in the class

Every student at Phuntsok Chö Ling should feel safe in the class and to share his personal thoughts and experience. That is why it is important that students treat each other with respect. We ask everyone’s consideration for this; new students as well as people who have been studying in our centre for some time. Harmony is guaranteed for everyone through a collective effort.

Open communication

All students together form the Sangha of Phuntsok Chö Ling. We greatly value to good mutual communication. Is there something that doesn’t suit you, you would like to change or do you have general feedback about the class? Please discuss this with your facilitators and with Lama Jigmé. Phuntsok Chö Ling would like to build a good and harmonious Sangha. This is in the interest of everyone’s development on the spiritual path.
