Lama Jigmé Rinpoche

Lama Jigmé Rinpoche was born in 1973 into a nomadic family in Golog, in eastern Tibet.
When he was eight years old, he entered the Tratsok Monastery, and ten years later he left for Serthar Larung Gar, the Buddhist institute of Khenpo Jigmé Phuntsok Rinpoche. Here he studied Buddhist philosophy, tantra, and other important teachings. Subsequently, Lama Jigmé Rinpoche himself taught large groups of monks and lay people in Tibet.

After consulting his teachers, Lama Jigmé Rinpoche decided to leave Tibet and go to Europe. This was a huge step, as he did not speak any European language and had no knowledge of European culture. He went to work in Luxembourg to support himself. In doing so, he learned English and gained insight into Western culture. He founded two centers in Europe: the Centre Culturel Tibétain in Luxembourg and Phuntsok Chö Ling in Rotterdam. In addition to his teaching of meditation, Lama Jigmé Rinpoche has extensive experience in end-of-life care and is particularly interested in interreligious dialogue.
